Based in Minneapolis, Minnesota, Adam Kuenzel has served as the Principal Flutist of the Minnesota Orchestra since 1990. Adam Kuenzel has also held a range of other orchestral positions. Adam Kuenzel studied at the Oberlin Conservatory in Oberlin, Ohio, where he was the school’s concerto competition winner in his final year. Adam Kuenzel graduated with a Bachelor of Music in Performance. Adam Kuenzel’s first orchestral position was with the Charleston Symphony Orchestra in South Carolina, where he served from 1984 until 1988. Subsequently, Adam Kuenzel accepted the principal flute chair at the San Antonio Symphony, where he played until joining the Minnesota Orchestra. Additionally, Adam Kuenzel has appeared as a Guest Principal Flutist with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra and the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra. A proponent of new music, Adam Kuenzel has performed flute concerti written by Polish composer Stanislaw Skrowaczewski and Venezuelan composer Manuel Sosa. Adam Kuenzel has also participated in numerous music festivals and served as an adjunct faculty member at the University of Minnesota.
