With a varied background in journalism, public relations, and marketing, Ameerah Cetawayo brings a lot of experience to her current position of Public Relations Director with St. Andrew’s Resources for Seniors System in St. Louis, Missouri. In this position, Cetawayo maintains responsibility for all aspects of communications and marketing. She creates strategies designed to enhance public relations through the usage of newsletters, websites, and various media contacts. Immediately before taking on her current position, Ameerah Cetawayo fine-tuned her public relations and marketing skills at a small firm called Corecubed, which offered home care marketing services on a national level.
Before formally entering the world of public relations, Ameerah Cetawayo launched her career as a business reporter with Bowling Green Daily News in Kentucky. She was responsible for making calls, developing contacts, and finding statistics and facts in order to write informative and concise stories. She paid close attention to economic developments, consumer issues, and personal finance. Afterwards, Ameerah Cetawayo turned her attention to radio and television reporting. She took on the role of News Producer with WNYT in Albany, New York, where she managed a staff that included reporters, editors, and technicians. Additionally, she took on responsibility for graphic design and various stories, filling in roles as needed.
During the spring semester 2010, Ameerah Cetawayo served as an Adjunct Instructor at Schenectady County Community College, where she taught Governmental Accounting. Also during this time, she was an as-needed PR and Fundraising Consultant for the Tandem Initiative, crafting press releases and coordinating press events. In March 2011, Ameerah Cetawayo became a Marketing Development Associate with Saint Vincent Home for Children, where she used social media, referral outreach, and community relations to increase awareness of the St. Louis nonprofit organization.
Prior to launching her career, Ameerah Cetawayo studied mass communication at Western Kentucky University. She went on to earn a Master of Business Administration from the College of Saint Rose in Albany.
