Anne Hersh, Architect and Preservationist, completing numerous new buildings and renovations throughout NY, Pennsylvania and the CaribbeanCorning, New YorkPossessing degrees in architecture and art history, Anne Hersh currently heads her own architecture firm, which she founded in 1990. Anne Hersh has augmented her substantial and varied design work with academic and charitable work focused on the Caribbean. The firm of Anne Hersh Architect has completed numerous new buildings and renovations throughout New York and Pennsylvania. While perhaps best known for its design of public spaces, including the Watkins Glen and Trumansburg public libraries, Hersh’s firm also has experience designing commercial spaces such as the headquarters of Citizens & Northern Bank in Wellsboro, Pennsylvania. Anne Hersh has strived to build a diverse architectural portfolio, cultivating her design skills through challenges presented by different spaces. Hersh’s work has included fire stations, office buildings, medical offices, restaurants, and historic buildings. The firm approaches each development with a unique approach, emphasizing functionality, life cycle-cost schedules, and aesthetics. After volunteering with the U.S. National Park Service, Anne Hersh founded her own nonprofit organization in 1990, Caribbean Volunteer Expeditions (CVE), where she serves as President of the Board of Directors. Now a registered 501©(3) charitable organization, CVE directs volunteer missions to document historic places and buildings throughout the Caribbean. Hersh and other professionals, including archeologists and architectural historians, lead groups to conduct archeological expeditions, hands-on preservation of historic buildings, and surveys of historic sites. Anne Hersh is the co-author of Searching for Sugar Mills: An Architectural Guide to the Eastern Caribbean. Built on years of firsthand research and interviews with local architects, historians and national trusts, Hersh offers travelers and local residents reviews of the architecture of 15 Caribbean islands. Anne Hersh is a member of the American Institute of Architects, the New York State Association of Architects, and the National Trust for Historic Preservation. She has an architectural license in New York, Pennsylvania, and the U.S. Virgin Islands, as well as a certificate from the National Council of Architectural Registration Boards (NCARB).
