Bennett

Anne Tsai Bennett graduated from Harvard, where she concentrated in East Asian Studies with a focus on China. After graduation, she moved to Hong Kong and worked as an investment banking analyst for Morgan Stanley, where she focused on Asian telecom and media corporate finance. After working in Asia, Anne moved to Washington to monitor the Uighurs for the Congressional-Executive Commission on China, a U.S. government agency that monitors human rights and rule of law developments in China. Anne then moved on from policy work to program implementation as a Program Officer for Asia at the National Democratic Institute for International Affairs (NDI), a nonprofit organization that promotes democracy and good governance around the world. Anne took a break from her Asia work to be the Director of Government and Foundation Relations at a non-profit called Building with Books (BwB), which helps rural villagers in developing countries become self-reliant through education and other capacity-building projects. BwB also motivates teenagers in the U.S. to “think globally, act locally” by exposing them to the global issues BwB encounters overseas and empowering them to make a difference by serving their own local communities. Realizing that she could not stay away from Asia and China work for long, Anne will soon return to NDI as a Senior Program Officer back on the Asia team.

In her spare time, she hosts decadent dinner parties, travels, climbs cliffs, and is learning how to do an eskimo roll so she can whitewater kayak with her husband without fear of drowning.
