Anne-Marie Angelo was voted “Cutest Sneeze” on the University of Virginia’s Lawn in 2001. Armed with pride, tissues, and a B.A. in American Studies, she soon moved to Rutland, the smallest county in England. Anne-Marie taught American Politics, English Literature, and History for almost 4 years at two high schools there: Uppingham and Oakham. She very much enjoyed learning her students’ perspectives on American politics and especially their thoughts on race and racism in the United States. With their inspiration, Anne-Marie entered Duke University in 2005 to pursue a Ph.D. in History, focusing on foreign perceptions of the United States in the 20th century. Her research at Duke has examined Black Panther Parties that formed outside the United States, in the U.K., Bermuda, India, Israel, New Zealand, and Australia. She recently received her A.M. degree for her work on the British Black Panther Movement and will travel to Jerusalem later this year to interview former Israeli Panthers.

Anne-Marie has extended her writing beyond academic borders through a creative portfolio focused mainly on sketch comedy and political humor. She has studied with The Second City and her favorite sketch involves Condoleezza Rice, Madeleine Albright, and Marcia and Greg Brady in a book report cheating scandal. She is currently pursuing screenwriting opportunities in both New York and London.
