Florida State Seminoles Stadium, Posted by FSU Guy.
By Anthony Woodward
An NCAA Division I participant, the Florida State Seminoles are the collective men’s and women’s athletic teams of Florida State University. Located in Tallahassee, Florida, Florida State became part of the Atlantic Coast Conference in 1992 and competes in the Atlantic Division of collegiate sports. In 1948, Florida State University students selected Seminoles as the name and embodiment for their school’s teams.
The students named the team after the American Indian Seminole tribe. Chief Osceola and Renegade serve as the Florida State Seminoles’ official symbols and are instantly recognizable to Florida State fans. Additionally, the Seminole Tribe of Florida, Inc., sanctioned Florida State University’s use of the name Osceola, and the mascot is a symbol of an unconquered spirit. In total, the Florida State Seminoles comprise 17 teams.
Since the Florida State Seminoles’ inception, FSU has amassed more than 100 Conference Titles. The Florida State Seminoles have earned 12 National Titles and a plethora of individual National Titles. In 1999, the Florida State Seminoles received another honor when they became the first national champion to start and complete a season as the top-ranked team.

Reading is Fundamental, Anthony Woodward
April, 2011
by Anthony Woodward
As the Owner of The Woodward Law Group in Land O’ Lakes, Florida, I support several charitable organizations. One of my favorite literacy advocacy groups is Reading is Fundamental, which is an organization that strives to provide all children in America with access to books. Reading Is Fundamental works with children from birth to eight years of age through several initiatives, all of which are designed to instill a joy of reading.
The largest non-profit children’s literacy organization in the U.S., Reading is Fundamental offers many different programs for children all over the country. Its Books for Ownership service gives children books of their own that build upon the importance of a personal library. Reading is Fundamental also sponsors a Care to Read program, which is an early literacy training program for employees who work in childcare facilities. Another service provided by the foundation is Family of Readers, which empowers parents by teaching them the necessary skills that will help them lead their children through the process of learning how to read and learning to love books.
Furthermore, Reading is Fundamental furthers the promotion of literacy (defined as the ability to read and write) as a fundamental concept that leads to personal wellbeing and knowledge. Many children in the U.S. are illiterate, and this fact hinders their ability to obtain high-paying jobs and fully participate in society. Reading is Fundamental uses its variety of programs to reach out to these children and involve them in the creative world of fine children’s literature.
