North Carolina resident Ashley Magiera currently attends North Carolina State University in Raleigh and expects to graduate in May 2011. Concentrating on communication media, Ashley Magiera is in the process of earning her Bachelor’s degree. When not studying or working, Ashley Magiera enjoys spending time with friends, dancing, watching sports, and caring for her dog, Brooklyn, at her home in Raleigh, North Carolina.

Ashley Magiera graduated from Athens Drive High School in Raleigh in 2007. A member of the National Honor Society, Ashley Magiera was a focused high school student who also excelled in athletics. For three years, Ashley Magiera was a member of her high school’s competitive jazz dance team and helped the team win several awards. Additionally, Ashley Magiera was featured in country musician Andrew Barker’s music video for her dancing talents.

As a communications major, Ashley Magiera analyzes and critiques newer forms of communication, particularly the ever-growing digital and wireless industry. In her blogs and research papers, Ashley Magiera comments on the relationship between computers and the general population, focusing on the avid interest the public showed when computers were just emerging. Additionally, Ashley Magiera studies digital environments, as well as humans’ dependence on the Internet and mobile devices. Ashley Magiera is also interested in the growth of communication resulting from wide accessibility to the Internet, including advances like Wikipedia, blogs, and social networking, as well as the effects of these things on cultures and communities.
