Ashley Sonlin has performed at Ryman Auditorium in Nashville, Tennessee; in cabarets in New York City; and at the House of Blues in Cleveland. Still in her teens, she began writing songs at age seven and continues to learn her craft. While spending many of her waking hours songwriting, singing, and playing her guitar, Ashley Sonlin has also earned membership to the National Honor Society at Central Bucks High School West in Pennsylvania. The organization recognizes achievement in academics, as well as service, leadership, and character.

In fall 2011, Ashley Sonlin will begin classes at Berklee College of Music in Boston, founded more than 50 years ago to provide meaningful music industry career guidance to performers and nonperformers. The nonprofit institution owns two student record labels, five Internet radio channels, and five performance venues. In 2010, Ms. Sonlin participated in 1 of the institution’s 20 summer programs. During the course, she earned placement in the Tower of Power Ensemble and appeared in concert at the Berklee Performance Center.

As an independent artist, Ashley Sonlin utilizes social media to share her talent. Her biography and music links appear on Facebook, Myspace, and other sites. On YouTube, Ms. Sonlin sings and plays the guitar for several original pieces, including “Stealing Time”; “I Can Pretend”; and “Long, Long Road”. Visitors to YouTube can also view her performances covering other artists’ songs, such as Nancy Sinatra’s “Bang Bang” and Taylor Swift’s “Jump the Fall”. In addition, YouTube includes Tower of Power Ensemble shows featuring Ms. Sonlin.

Several music industry professionals have aided Ashley Sonlin, such as her voice coach of five years, Robert Marks. Many of his former and current students have appeared on Broadway and on the big screen. Other mentors include trumpet player and composer Wayne Naus and songwriter and producer Lisa Ratner, who recorded several songs with Ms. Sonlin.
