Asma Jaber is a junior anthropology and international studies major at the University of South Carolina. She is the Vice President of the Muslim Students Association and has spent much time helping local immigrant and refugee communities with literacy and health care access. Throughout her undergraduate career she has coupled her work with immigrants’ literacy and legal issues with a passion for peace and social justice in the Middle East. She hopes to work with a development organization in order to enhance education, healthcare, and governance in the Middle East and, more specifically, in the Palestinian territories. She would like to build upon her experiences in grassroots organization of conferences and projects aimed at promoting understanding of the Middle East and the ongoing conflicts there in order to become a mediator between the U.S. and the Arab world.
