AtHomeNet, Inc.

AtHomeNet, Inc., was founded in 1998 by the husband and wife team of Jeff and Susan Sanders. Tired of their long commutes, the two were determined to create a new service using the developing technology of the Internet to offer compelling, useful solutions to their association clients. The market they chose to serve was that of community associations and other similar organizations. At the time, most homeowners associations, nonprofit groups, small businesses, and churches lacked a simple, reliable means of communicating, and this state of affairs had the potential to slow down their operations. To rectify this situation, the couple founded AtHomeNet, which enabled these organizations to coordinate their efforts with ease.

Basing its revenue model on subscriptions rather than advertising, AtHomeNet was able to avoid the dot-com crash of 2000, and the company remains strong to this day. One key to the success of AtHomeNet was the background of its founders. Jeff Sanders had experience in computer programming and served as a systems analyst for businesses in the financial services industry. His wife was also experienced in the financial world and had received training in the fields of sales and marketing. This combination of skills proved ideal for the burgeoning AtHomeNet, as the duo could excel in both technical and marketing services.

A critical element of AtHomeNet's success has been its outstanding customer service. The founders have made it a priority to remain in contact with their client base and to treat each community they serve as if it were their own. A new client can contact AtHomeNet to find out about the origins and mission of the business, and community administrators can discuss at length what they require from AtHomeNet's web services.

  • AtHomeNet: The Future of Homeowner’s Associations
Homeowner’s associations have been around since as early as the mid 19th century, but they did not become common until the latter half of the 20th century, due to the surge in large-scale suburban residential development that began following World War II. Communities were created practically overnight, and homeowner’s associations allowed the new residents to preserve architectural uniformity and address problems that arose as the neighborhood aged. This was important in order to maintain or increase property values.

There was one problem that hindered the effectiveness of homeowner’s associations, however: the difficulty of facilitating communication and collaboration between a large number of neighbors who may not interact on a regular basis. AtHomeNet has provided a solution to this problem. By using AtHomeNet, homeowners can use the internet to efficiently communicate and collaborate with their neighbors.

  • The Importance of an Effective Homeowner Association Brought to you, by AtHomeNet
Homeowner associations have played an integral role in neighborhoods and communities across the United States for decades. Typically made up of both paid personnel and volunteers, these associations strive to meet the expectations of each of its resident-members. Through fair governance, professionalism, and effective leadership, homeowner associations can create better communities with greater access to educational opportunities and other resources.

Effective homeowner associations also ensure that their neighborhoods maintain the desired character and help protect property values. Additionally, these associations bring the community together in crisis, providing emergency preparedness plans and helping its residents rebuild after natural disasters. To fulfill each of these important responsibilities, homeowner associations must cultivate open lines of communication with their communities by holding meetings, sending newsletters, and developing websites.
