The current Chair of the Animal Law Section of the State Bar of Texas, attorney Randy Turner is a nationally recognized animal advocacy expert. A founding partner in the firm of McKenzie & Turner, PC, he has dedicated a large part of his practice to handling cases involving animal rights. In acknowledgment of his many achievements within the field, Randy Turner was voted a Top Attorney by Fort Worth, Texas magazine in 2009 and 2010, as well as a Texas Super Lawyer in each of the last three years by Texas Monthly. After earning a law degree at the St. Mary’s University School of Law in 1980 and gaining Texas State Bar membership that same year, Randy Turner co-founded the Fort Worth-based Russell & Turner, LLP. In 2008, after 28 successful years at Russell & Turner, he left the firm to start his current practice. Throughout his career, Randy Turner has represented humane societies and animal rescue organizations, animal welfare advocates in civil and criminal cases, and claimants in veterinary malpractice and animal cruelty suits. In recent years, Randy Turner has contributed his insights to the Animal Law Institute, held annually in Austin, Texas. Randy Turner often volunteers as a pro bono attorney for a number of animal welfare organizations, including Animal Angels, the Animal Guardians of America, Animal Legal Defense Fund, and Companion Animal Protection Society. A regular volunteer with the global conservation nonprofit Earthwatch, Randy Turner has previously served as President and Treasurer of the Texas Humane Legislation Network and is a prior Vice President and Board Member of the Humane Society of North Texas.
