Audrey Woulard started her photography career with a point and shoot camera and her four boys. Impressed by her snapshots, family and friends started asking her to take pictures of their children as well. Soon enough, Audrey Woulard was running a business, shooting photographs for clients who would come not only from beyond the greater Chicago area, but also from all over the United States.

When conducting a shoot, Audrey Woulard intends to elicit a child’s essence and memorialize it in a photograph. To do so, Audrey Woulard connects with her subjects, frequently romping around with an energetic child or engaging in conversation with a quieter kid. Audrey Woulard assures clients that children are most comfortable and most natural when photographed at the child’s home or in a setting with which they are familiar. Audrey Woulard’s studio is adorned as though it is a home and play area, and she offers kids ample space to run around and enjoy themselves.

In addition to her portraiture business, Audrey Woulard has often undertaken commercial photography projects. She has shot for numerous Pottery Barn catalogs, and her work has been published in magazines such as Better Homes and Gardens Photography Edition and Chicago Scene. An entire chapter of a book entitled 14 Experts Talk about Photographing Children is devoted to Audrey Woulard and her work, and she is named one of the best children’s portrait artists in Chicago in an exclusive book called City Baby Chicago.

Passionate about her craft, Audrey Woulard loves to teach her techniques to professional and aspiring photographers. Peers from as far as France, South Africa, and Australia have flown in to attend her educational and inspirational workshops, during which she instructs photographers how to employ all elements of their environment to work to their advantage. While understanding that photographers must master the technical aspects of their job to produce good photos, Audrey Woulard believes it is the bond with the subject, however brief, that results in the most successful portraits.
