Skilled in start-up operations, strategic planning and creative thinking, and international business development, Azmin Daya is currently Chief Executive Officer of SANAD Insurance & Reinsurance Company. Located in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, SANAD Insurance & Reinsurance was a start up operation established by Azmin Daya in 2008, and the company continues to thrive under his leadership. In its first year (2009), SANAD Insurance & Reinsurance had premium income of about $60 million U.S.

Prior to joining SANAD Insurance & Reinsurance, Azmin Daya served as Chief Operating Officer of Lincoln General Insurance Co, a division of Kingsway Financial Services Group. Between 2004 and 2008, Azmin Daya’s many accomplishments included saving the company more than $20 million by overseeing its exit from retail business and by making aggressive cuts to its claims adjustment expenses.

In addition to his confident, effective management tactics, Azmin Daya has also demonstrated his ability to provide overarching guidance as a member of the board at several major companies in his industry. Azmin Daya is the past President of Canada Life Re Ltd. in Barbados and is the past Vice President of the Brazil-Canada Chamber of Commerce in Rio de Janeiro. Azmin Daya is also a former Board Member of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants’ Canadian Chapter.

A Canadian national, Azmin Daya holds a number of professional degrees. Azmin Daya is a Certified Management Accountant and a Fellow of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants in the United Kingdom. Azmin Daya holds a Master of Science in Management from the Belgium campus of Boston University.

    Mandate: Establish insurance and reinsurance operations from “ground zero” and run day to day operations Responsible for all strategic and operational aspects of the company, reporting to the Board and its various committees. • Charged with setting up the entire operations from “ground zero”. Involved in all aspects of a typical set up in a very challenging environment, including product and human development, pricing, actuarial reserving, marketing etc. • Designed and introduced clear vision, mission and value statements with an emphasis on excellence in service • Implemented measurable 5 year strategic and yearly tactical plans encompassing all facets of the business. • Launched to market within a span of 12 months, over 30 products, including overseeing reinsurance arrangements for same. 2009 Premium (Year 1 of operation) of US$60M and projected premium of over US$100M in Year 2. • Championed the use of automation in all aspects of the business; front end and back office – achieving 45% automation in 2009. Introduced e-medical, e-marine and e-auto business portals and e-services for intermediaries, major clients and medical service providers, ensuring efficiency in sales as well as service. • Implemented best practice corporate governance and risk management procedures and processes. A publicly traded insurance and reinsurance company located in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia writing business both within the Kingdom and in adjoining (Gulf) countries. Product line includes all personal and commercial property and casualty lines (including specialty lines), medical and term life insurances. 2009 year end staff count of 180. 2009 was the first full year of insurance operations with revenues of US$60M.

    I earned my Master of Science in Management from Boston University’s Brussels campus.
