Babouch
is an award-winning Moroccan restaurant owned by Kamal Keroles and
located in San Pedro, California. At Babouch, Keroles creates more than
simply a dining experience. He gives customers a fantasy right out of
the Arabian Nights. Patrons enter an unprepossessing building and walk
through a beaded curtain to find a surprise: a luxurious dining room
hung with tapestries and lanterns with oriental carpets underfoot.
Spices scent the air. Babouch Restaurant beckons patrons to relax and
lounge on low, velvety couches and enjoy a leisurely meal of many
courses served on inlaid mosaic tables. As a sign of hospitality,
waiters appear bearing carafes of warm water and bowls to wash patrons’
hands before and after dinner. Belly dancers gyrate to traditional music
among the tables, adding to the alluring ambiance. Tarot card readers
table hop, telling Babouch patrons their fortunes. (Tarot card readings
are free of charge, although tips are welcome.) At Babouch Restaurant,
patrons can choose from vegetarian and meat dishes that mix the flavors
and textures of the Middle East with those of North Africa. Sweets and
savories alike come wrapped in crispy, paper-thin layers of filo dough.
Keroles knows how to provide palate pleasers that keep his loyal patrons
coming back for more. Scan the menu for appetizers, entrees, nightly
specials, and prix fixe dinner selections and find out what else Babouch
Moroccan Restaurant has to offer at www.babouchrestaurant.com.
