Bacardi
Limited

Distilled Spirits Company

Hamilton, Bermuda

While Bacardi has made a name for itself with its nearly150-year-old brand of rum, it also owns several other highly recognizable names in the liquor market. One, BOMBAY SAPPHIRE, has become a leading brand in the world of gin. Emblazoned with a portrait of Queen Victoria I, BOMBAY SAPPHIRE hearkens back to its origins as the preferred spirit of British soldiers stationed in overseas colonies. The name “Sapphire” refers to both the eye-catching bottle design and the high quality of the gin, which features a surprisingly subtle and sophisticated taste.

Through its CAZADORES 100% Blue Agave brand, Bacardi also maintains an active presence in the tequila market. Produced in the highlands of Jalisco, Mexico, CAZADORES uses only the most succulent agave to produce highly refined and smooth-tasting tequila. Like Bacardi mastermind Don Facundo Bacardi himself, CAZADORES founder Don José María Bañuelos began to experiment with various distilling and purification techniques after expressing dissatisfaction with typical spirits. Later, when his grandson, Don Felix Bañuelos, began commercial production based on his grandfather’s recipe, he was inspired by the deer that roam the highlands of Mexico. He chose these animals as a symbol for the tequila distillery, and named it CAZADORES, or hunter, to honor the adventurous spirit of his grandfather.

MARTINI Vermouth, another brand owned by Bacardi, has become virtually synonymous with the popular cocktail that bears its name. First created in Italy by three men and their families, Martini has transformed itself from a local favorite to a worldwide sensation. In the 1920s, the four sons of Lugo Rossi designed the MARTINI logo, which features a simple blue bar over a red circle, as a way for consumers to instantly recognize the quality offered by MARTINI products.

Produced from only the best rye, Bacardi-owned ERISTOFF vodka is 100% grain vodka, first produced in Eurasian Georgia more than 200 years ago. ERISTOFF, which shares its name with a wealthy and distinguished Russian family, has earned a reputation for its neutral taste and high quality.

In 2011, Bacardi re-released its Hatuey beer after a brief production hiatus. The new beer enjoys near-legendary status among many expatriate Cubans, who claim that the mere taste of the beer stirs up nostalgic feelings for their homeland.
