Managing Member, Thunderbird Capital LLC

Denver, Colorado

Bowen Banbury began his career at the Pacific Basin Economic Council (PBEC), a nonprofit, pro-trade think tank. In a time of transition for the PBEC, Bowen Banbury provided leadership as the Director of Programs. Among other duties, he headed preparatory procedures that included creating systems and marketing plans in preparation for the move to a new headquarters. He also recruited all new talent for the organization; a part of the Center for Strategic and International Studies originally, the PBEC soon became an independent nongovernmental organization. Bowen Banbury promoted trade and business in the Pacific region, bringing him into contact with important professionals in the business world, including the Chief Executive Officers of Pacific-based companies ADI Limited; PETRONAS; Toyota Motor Corporation; Motorola, Inc.; and Boeing. After four years as the Director of Programs, Bowen Banbury decided to take the next step in his career by starting his own company. In 1997, he founded DocuVault LLC. Starting with two empty floors of an office building in downtown Denver, Bowen Banbury built a large records management, data security, and document disposal company. Eventually, DocuVault became so successful that it spawned a group of subsidiary companies that included DocuVault Group LLLP, DocuVault Colorado Springs LLC, DocuVault Data Security LLC, and DocuVault Secure Shredding LLC. Managing this family of companies, Bowen Banbury was ultimately responsible for $11 million in revenue and more than 75 employees. In 2008, DocuVault and its assets were acquired by Iron Mountain Incorporated, a global information management services company.
