As Commissioner of the Monroe Circuit Court, Bret Raper is a prominent hearing officer for a unified, nine-division court with jurisdiction over filed cases across all categories in Monroe County, Indiana. Bret Raper is also a former Deputy Prosecuting Attorney specializing in juvenile prosecution. In recognition of his service to young people, Bret Raper has been awarded the Indiana State Bar’s Civil Rights for Children Award.

While working as a Deputy Prosecuting Attorney, Bret Raper simultaneously served as an active leader and officer with Monroe County’s Victim Offender Reconciliation Program (VORP). In working with the Victim Offender Reconciliation Program, Bret Raper helped sustain an organization that furthered the mutual benefits of communication between victims and offenders in a program honored for its successes in humanizing the criminal process.

Indiana State Bar Association member Bret Raper is a recognized leader in the Bloomington, Indiana community; a volunteer with Youth for Christ and Hospitality House, Bret Raper also supports local American Red Cross and 4-H chapters. A lifelong musician, Bret Raper has performed as a sideman for American country singer and songwriter Tom T. Hall, and has also been involved with the Lloyd Wood Show, a known staple of Indiana’s local music culture.

Bret Raper earned his Bachelor of Arts degree summa cum laude from Indiana University in August of 1992, and graduated Indiana University School of Law, Juris Doctor in hand, in May of 1995.
