Brian Babcock-Lumish is an instructor of international relations at West Point. He is a captain in military intelligence, having previously commanded a company of 650 soldiers training the Army’s intelligence analysts at Fort Huachuca, Arizona. During his first deployment to Iraq in 2005-06, he led a team training Iraqi intelligence officers. During his second deployment to Iraq in 2007-08, he served in several positions as a strategic intelligence officer, including as General Petraeus’ daily intelligence briefer. Prior to earning an appointment to the United States Military Academy at West Point and a commission as an officer, Brian served in the enlisted ranks as a Russian linguist. He studied for his master of philosophy degree in Russian and East European Studies at the University of Oxford on a General George C. Marshall Scholarship. He earned a PhD in War Studies at King’s College London on the Harry S Truman Scholarship. |
