Senior Planner / Architect @ I-COM Integrated Communications in Milwaukee, WisconsinMilwaukee, WisconsinBrian Pionke is a community planning expert who possesses more than 20 years of experience in helping towns and cities in Wisconsin to achieve their development goals. A proponent of sustainable development, Brian Pionke has assisted cities in preserving their historic legacies while also protecting the environment. Brian Pionke attended the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, where he received a Bachelor of Science in Architectural Studies, a Master of Architecture, and a Master of Urban Planning. Brian Pionke graduated in 1987 and began his career in community planning. From 1992 until 1997, Brian Pionke worked for the City of Beloit, Wisconsin, as a City Planner and Historic Preservation Commission staff. He managed all aspects of the city’s historical preservation efforts, and also reviewed zoning, planning, and environmental assessments. Brian Pionke also reviewed architectural designs and participated in land acquisition efforts. Brian Pionke accepted a similar post with the City of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, in 1997. In this position, Brian Pionke served in a range of environmental and advocacy roles, encouraging the reuse of buildings and materials. He secured grants and garnered millions in private investment for the renovation of historic districts. In 2004, Brian Pionke joined Independent Inspections, Ltd., based in Waukesha, Wisconsin. Brian Pionke served as the Community Planner for the towns of Eagle, Kewaskum, and Waukesha, as well as the villages of Bay View, Big Bend, and Dousman. Brian Pionke’s duties included rezoning, site planning, and making field visits. Brian Pionke also represented each of these communities in county meetings and promoted the smart growth planning initiative. Since 2008, Brian Pionke has held the position of Senior Community Planner at I-COM Integrated Communications, representing the Town of Eagle and the Village of Big Bend. Brian Pionke developed comprehensive development plans for these municipalities, created an environmentally friendly zoning code, secured a State of Wisconsin Comprehensive Planning Grant, and generated detailed reports. Brian Pionke’s ongoing duties include balancing municipal needs with ordinances and design standards. Brian Pionke is a member of the Wisconsin Chapter of the American Planning Association (WAPA) and a number of other professional organizations.
