Financial investment executive Brion Applegate has worked in the industry for more than 30 years.Menlo Park, CaliforniaBefore launching his investment career, Brion Applegate received his Bachelor of Arts from Colgate University, where he now sits on the Board of Trustees. Colgate’s Board is comprised of 35 members drawn from parents of students, school alumni, and the President of the university. Selected from such professional fields as construction, finance, law, education, or public service, board members ensure multiple perspectives will be reflected in their stewardship of the school. Due to the importance of the position, Brion Applegate underwent an in-depth examination to prove his capacity for handling the many responsibilities it entails. As a member of the board, Mr. Applegate helps set the university’s annual budget, reviews educational programs and policies, approves construction and renovation projects, and fosters fundraising efforts. He also maintains a sense of the Colgate experience by sitting in on classes and talking with students around the campus. Along with his responsibilities as a Colgate trustee, Brion Applegate currently serves as the Senior Managing Director for Spectrum Equity, which he co-founded in 1994. Over its existence, the company has grown to represent $4.7 billion in private equity capital. Mr. Applegate and his company typically invest between $25 and $100 million in industry leading businesses spanning the entertainment, information services, communications, and media sectors. Most of the investments are focused in North America and Western Europe. After receiving his BA in Liberal Arts from Colgate University, Brion Applegate completed his Master of Business Administration at Harvard Business School. Brion Applegate's Schools
