About Brittain Ladd
An Internationally recognized authority on supply chain and business strategy, Brittain C. Ladd has served as a leading logistics expert for a number of companies during his career. In this capacity, Brittain Ladd has designed and implemented cutting-edge strategies that have improved companies’ overall operational efficiency while also reducing costs and complexity as well as creating a positive customer experience. A certified Six Sigma Master Black and Lean Practitioner, Brittain Ladd has utilized the Lean Six Sigma methodology across a variety of industries, from retail to manufacturing, with a special focus on applying Lean Six Sigma across the six drivers of supply chain performance: facilities, inventory, transportation, data mining, procurement, and pricing. Brittain Ladd’s supply chain management expertise has resulted in success for several prominent companies such as Dell and the specialty retailer Michaels Stores, Inc. Recruited by Dell in 2005, Brittain Ladd identified multiple opportunities to reduce costs and increase supply chain efficiency for the near $60 billion manufacturer. Over a period of three years, Brittain Ladd designed and led one of the largest supply chain transformation projects in Dell’s history while maintaining responsibility for managing Dell’s day-to-day transportation requirements. The implementation of innovative global supply chain strategies reduced transportation costs by millions of dollars while achieving double-digit growth in customer satisfaction scores. Brittain Ladd also led Dell’s Green supply chain program, receiving recognition from NGO’s and several industry publications for his innovative and thought-provoking views on Green logistics. The strategies designed and implemented by Brittain Ladd and his team are not only still in use at Dell, but they have been expanded globally, providing a testament to his foresight as a leader of Dell’s supply chain. At Michaels Stores, Brittain Ladd designed and implemented innovative strategies that would take the $6 billion corporation’s transportation and logistics capabilities from being run in an all-manual, de-centralized environment to a centralized world-class organization. After completing an end-to-end assessment across people, processes, and technology, Brittain Ladd identified a multi-phase approach to achieve the desired results: implement i2 Technologies’ transportation management system; eliminate relations with third-party logistics providers in order to bring all transportation and logistics management in-house in a centralized environment; and insist on the use of strategic supply chain modeling tools to model the optimal manufacturing, distribution, inventory, and transportation strategies. The overhaul was so successful that several articles and case studies have been written about the efforts of Brittain Ladd and his team. Michaels Stores continues to utilize the strategies implemented by Brittain Ladd. Today, Brittain Ladd is a supply chain and Lean Six Sigma consultant for one of the world’s leading consulting firms. Brittain Ladd specializes in working with companies to reduce their costs and complexity to achieve an agile, adaptable, and aligned supply chain.
