As a result of his pursuit of the study of psychoimmunology, Florida alternative medicine specialist Brock Mardis improved his own health and continues to advance the cause of those seeking natural remedies for disease.

Delray Beach, Florida

An ardent advocate for the healing power of the mind, Brock Mardis recommends that people diagnosed with chronic or debilitating conditions focus on creating well-being through healthful diet and positive thought. Diagnosed at the age of 14 with type 1 diabetes, he decided to pursue research that might provide relief from the disease. Shortly before meeting his mentor, Peter Copani, Brock Mardis embarked on the study of alternative medicine in the hopes of learning more about the connection between the mind and health. Today, Brock Mardis continues his studies in psychoimmunology in the hopes of helping other people maintain their good health.

In his quest for an answer to his insulin-dependent diabetes, Brock Mardis determined that his own need for love and acceptance may have poisoned his body and triggered his illness. The various components of the brain oversee different functions of the body. Moreover, the brain’s activity and the power of memory provoke the release of hormones that cause the systems of the body to become imbalanced. Research indicates that diabetes is caused by abnormalities of the autoimmune system that prompt the body’s defenses to attack pancreatic cells that produce insulin. Brock Mardis believes that his disease was caused or exacerbated by his unconscious desire for sympathy, which pushed his immune system into overdrive.

As a result of his soul-searching and medical research, Brock Mardis believes that he might have been able to avoid developing type 1 diabetes had he been in tune with the relation between his mind, his emotions, and his health. Having worked closely with Peter Copani, who overcame many of the incapacitating effects of advanced liver disease despite a stark diagnosis from his own doctors, Brock Mardis hopes to work in the future with researchers at the University of Miami in finding a cure for diabetes.
