During his tenure as a salesman, Bruce Newby became a bartender, working for five years after completing bartending school. Bruce Newby credits much of his professional growth to his time in the United States Army. Serving during the Vietnam War, Bruce Newby was sent to a variety of countries in Southeast Asia, including both Vietnam and Japan. Bruce Newby was able to visit Australia during his first tour of duty. After returning to the U.S., Bruce Newby was sent to Germany. During his 10 months in Germany, Bruce Newby studied leadership development at the Noncommissioned Officer (NCO) Academy. Before joining the U.S. Army, Bruce Newby lived a life that was marked with hard work and a variety of life-altering lessons. Bruce Newby held various jobs at the Knott’s Berry Farm theme park and in the park’s horseback riding stables. Apart from work, Bruce Newby spent time with a group of young men who maintained an avid interest in classic cars. The group spent every night cruising and racing, but one night changed Bruce Newby’s perception of the dangers of racing forever. On an evening, when Bruce Newby was unable to join in on the regular activities, his friends got into a serious accident that resulted in the loss of several limbs. With experience playing an instrumental role in his professional development and personal growth, Bruce Newby has become the tenacious, intelligent, and successful individual he is known as today.
