Amherst, Massachusetts

Food sciences student Bruna Juliana Pollack leads an active life. An undergraduate at the University of Massachusetts Amherst, Bruna Juliana Pollack spends her days studying the food sciences industry, participating in UMass Amherst’s Student Association for the Multicultural Brazilian Alliance (S.A.M.B.A.), and connecting with colleagues as a member of the UMass Food Science Club. In her first semester of her first year at UMass Amherst, Bruna Juliana Pollack distinguished herself by both declaring her major in food sciences and achieving a 3.76 GPA, which earned her a Dean’s List accolade. As a member of S.A.M.B.A., Bruna Juliana Pollack visits area high schools with large populations of Brazilian students and speaks with the Brazilian students about how a good college education will enhance their lives. By doing so, Bruna Juliana Pollack and other S.A.M.B.A. students mentor local high schoolers, pushing them to pursue higher education and at the same time improving communication between the local Brazilian population and UMass Amherst. Bruna Juliana Pollack and numerous other food sciences majors at UMass Amherst make up one of the northeast’s most active food science clubs, UMass Food Science Club. Bruna Juliana Pollack and her fellow members engage in different social activities through the organization, such as sports, dinners, and other events. The food sciences academic program at UMass Amherst has consistently been rated as one of the college’s most satisfactory departments. As a food sciences major, Bruna Juliana Pollack benefits from an award-winning and well-read staff.
