For last 20 years, Butch Treadwell has worked on behalf of individuals without homes in the greater Sacramento area as a Senior Regulatory Compliance Analyst at the Sacramento Housing and Redevelopment Agency (SHRA). Founded in 1981 by the Sacramento City Council and Sacramento County Board of Supervisors, SHRA focuses on providing affordable public housing for low-income and underprivileged individuals and families. As a Senior Regulatory Compliance Analyst for SHRA, Butch Treadwell designs residence service programs for the families who live in the agency’s multi-service sites. SHRA has ongoing projects in 15 different redevelopment areas throughout the city and county.

Butch Treadwell serves on the administrative team that sets rent and income limits for clients who reside in roughly 10,000 affordable housing units within the agency’s service area. Every dollar that SHRA spends generates almost $14 in future economic activity. The agency also helps low-income and underprivileged clients by distributing more than 11,000 rental vouchers financed by the federal Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD). Mr. Treadwell created the SHRA website which, among other aspects, explains how the agency does more than just build and rent housing. The team that includes Butch Treadwell also provides street lighting, community centers, transit-oriented developments, parks, and various public infrastructure projects.

SHRA’s compliance policy and procedures, updated by Butch Treadwell, have received accolades for their quality and effectiveness from the state of California. In addition, Mr. Treadwell fulfills the duties of Low-Income Housing Tax Credit Specialist on behalf of the National Affordable Housing Management Association. He previously served as Supervisor of the Office of Equal Opportunity in Construction.

An alumnus of Menlo College, Butch Treadwell qualified for All-State status as a basketball player. He played semi-professional basketball before making a career transition into nonprofit administration and working to help those in need. In the past, he has worked for Volunteers of America, Transitional Housing and Community Support Services, the Salvation Army, and Crestwood Manor Hospital.
