Carly Byers pursues studies in broadcast news at The University of Georgia’s Grady College of Journalism and Mass Communication in Athens. Elected as a Student Senator in 2009, Carly Byers aimed to help her fellow students by contributing to policy-making at the university. With a commitment to the student government’s mission of representing every student at the university, Byers sought to safeguard their rights. In addition to serving as a liaison for students and university administrators, she holds membership in the University of Georgia chapter of the Public Relations Student Society of America. As a member of the group, she seeks to hone her communications skills. Working with Creative Consultants, a student-run nonprofit public relations organization at The University of Georgia, Carly Byers and others collaborated with The Wilderness Society, a conservation group based in Washington, D.C. she and other students created a website to educate students at The University of Georgia on environmental matters. Carly Byers also functioned as Social Chairperson for her sorority, Alpha Omicron Pi. Carly Byers graduated from Milton High School in Alpharetta, Georgia, where she participated on the track team and homecoming court. She also served on the City of Alpharetta Youth Council and Local School Advisory Council. In addition, Byers collaborated on a prom dress drive for girls in foster care, a clothing drive for those displaced by Hurricane Katrina, and a blood drive for the American Red Cross.
