The Honorable Catherine Bartlett is a New York State judge in the Court of Claims. Catherine Bartlett has been a judge since 2005 and has practiced law since 1986. Catherine Bartlett received a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from American University in 1982. A scholarship student on the dean’s list during her studies, Catherine Bartlett took part in the Migrant Legal Action program. Following graduation, Catherine Bartlett enrolled in the Western New England College School of Law in Springfield, Massachusetts. She then obtained a Juris Doctor in 1985 and began working as an attorney. In 1990, Catherine Bartlett was appointed to the position of Assistant District Attorney for Orange County, New York. Catherine Bartlett went on to hold a series of other prestigious legal posts, including Town Justice for the Town of Goshen and County Attorney for Orange County. Catherine Bartlett was admitted to the bar of the United States District Court, Southern District of New York, in 2002. Following her admission, Catherine Bartlett was appointed County Attorney and Chief Administrative Officer for Orange County. In this position, she represented Orange County in litigation. Catherine Bartlett also managed the daily operations of the county government, budget, and employees. In 2005, Catherine Bartlett became a judge in the New York State Court of Claims, a position she holds to this day. Catherine Bartlett’s duties include conducting calendar calls for over 300 civil cases daily, presiding over jury trials, and conducting hearings. Catherine Bartlett also endeavors to decide motions and conclude all trials in a timely manner. In addition to these duties, in 2010 Catherine Bartlett was appointed Acting Justice for the Supreme Court of Orange County. Catherine Bartlett also serves as a member of the Judicial Hearing Officer Screening Committee for the Ninth Judicial District of New York.
