  • Tennis Tips by Chad Roffers, Chad Roffers
    March, 2011
Chad Roffers keeps very busy in his professional life as a property sales expert, and he created and runs the Roffers Real Estate Report, which focuses on the luxury market. In his free time, Chad Roffers likes to engage in sports such as tennis, which he enjoys from a strategic and physical level. An advocate of the sport, Chad Roffers thinks everyone should give it a try, and to that end has supplied a list of tips for beginning tennis players to help get them started.

    1. Make sure you have a proper racket: You do not need to spend a fortune on a racket. You just have to make sure it is the right size. If you are an adult, a 26- to 27-inch racket will work, and you should be able to wrap your hand around the grip so that your thumb touches the first knuckle of your middle finger.
    2. Invest in a good pair of tennis shoes to provide comfort and support. If you do not get a pair of proper court shoes, you run the risk of injury to feet and ankles.
    3. Wear proper tennis clothes to show respect to fellow players and the country club. An attractive pair of shorts and tennis shirt will do the trick.
    4. Be respectful of neighboring players and wait until a point is over before you wander across someone else’s court. Do not shout on the court while you are playing, and toss back a ball if it strays onto your court. Group lessons are affordable and fun, and they afford the chance to watch others and learn.
    5. Learn the basic rules and scoring before you step out on the court. Scoring in tennis is easy to understand and a necessary part of any game.
