Chris Megison is the Founder, President, and CEO of Solutions for Change based in Southern California. Solutions for Change was established with the sole purpose of finding a workable solution to end family homelessness, and since 1999, the non-profit enterprise has been meeting with community leaders to hammer out helpful strategies that take into account the whole scope of the family homelessness issue. In 2004, Solutions for Change received recognition from Congressman Darrell E. Issa for the enterprise’s ongoing struggle to eradicate family homelessness. As the man responsible for the day-to-day operations and overall strategy of Solutions for Change, Chris Megison has instituted a policy of engaging regional leaders and community heads. This more comprehensive approach does away with the ineffective and outdated “symptom relief” containment model, replacing it with a system focused on the long-term work of helping to end family homelessness. The Solutions for Change model, dubbed the Solutions University, stresses the doctrine of partnership, accountability, and compassion, not just servicing the needs of the homeless in a single-use transactional model. This approach has been tremendously effective, solving the root causes of homelessness for 542 families and transforming entire communities, one family, one community at a time. Chris Megison is a native of Detroit who moved to San Diego after joining the Marines. After a decade in the Corps, Mr. Megison was honorably discharged and, thereafter, applied his knowledge and experience with humanitarian efforts to helping families overcome homelessness. Chris Megison currently resides in Southern California with his wife and children.
