Over the course of a 35-year career, pharmacist Claire Sweet has consistently augmented his professional expertise with his entrepreneurial spirit.
Pharmacist Claire Sweet possesses more than 30 years of professional experience in his field. A Wisconsin native, Mr. Sweet studied pharmacy and communication arts at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, graduating in 1975 with his Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy. Following several years as a staff pharmacist at Service Drugs and Osco Drug, Claire Sweet joined Walgreen Co. as a Staff Pharmacist at the La Crosse retail store. He quickly advanced to the position of Assistant Manager and turned his entrepreneurial abilities toward increasing sales at the struggling location. After Mr. Sweet expanded sales to local nursing homes, establishing a new operation in the nearby city of Neenah, the La Crosse unit became one of the most profitable in the district. The store’s rapid growth drew the attention of Walgreen Co. management, who developed plans to build a new La Crosse location in 1993, dedicated solely to servicing nursing homes. Personally invited by the company’s Vice President of Operations to oversee the new pharmacy, Claire Sweet managed the sixth Walgreens Advance Care location to open in the United States, serving a customer base of approximately 1,000 patients. His outstanding performance resulted in a 1996 promotion to Regional Director, a role in which he supervised the sales, budget, and growth of all Walgreens Advance Care stores in Wisconsin, Minnesota, and Tennessee. By the time Walgreen Co. sold the Advance Care division to NCS Healthcare, Inc. in 1997, Claire Sweet’s stores were generating a full 50 percent of the division’s revenue. Claire Sweet continued to manage the La Crosse unit after the merger and further expanded Wisconsin operations to new stores in Eau Claire and Waukesha. In 2003, a year after Claire Sweet earned a promotion to State Executive Director, the Fortune 500 company Omnicare, Inc. staged a well-publicized takeover of NCS Healthcare. Following this transaction, Claire Sweet independently established Pinnacle Pharmacy in La Crosse. Omnicare eventually acquired Pinnacle and invited Claire Sweet to handle business for its five Wisconsin pharmacies. He served as Director of Customer Development for Omnicare from 2008 to 2011.
