Regional Storytelling through Fiction and Film32, New York, New YorkColin Spoelman hails from Eastern Kentucky, where he first became interested in storytelling. He graduated from Yale University in 2001 with a degree in Architecture and Theater Studies. Since then he has written and produced the award-winning Coming Down the Mountain, a narrative short that explores the prescription drug abuse epidemic in rural Appalachia. He is currently editing his first feature, The Cave Movie, about five kids that get trapped deep in a cave system in Kentucky. Other film credits include I Love Your Work, starring Christina Ricci and Giovanni Ribisi (Executive Producer), Porn n’ Chicken (Associate Producer) a made for television movie that appeared on Comedy Central in 2002 and Alone (Line Producer), a short that premiered at the IFP Market in New York. An occasional but serious actor, Colin recently played the leading male role in Mother Courage and her Children at the Columbia School of Drama and C4:The Checkhov Project for the Alternate Theatre. I’m in the final stages of post-production on a feature film about kids stuck in a cave, and several writing projects: a political analysis of mountaintop removal mining, a reality tv show “Sex House,” and a thriller.
