Ms. Colleen Barney began working at Albrecht & Barney in 1995 after receiving her JD from the University of Michigan Law School. Assisting clients with advanced estate and gift tax planning, Barney serves as the managing partner of the law firm, where she is also responsible for managing the firm’s day to day tasks. Displaying an ardent understanding and keen skill in her work, Barney became a firm partner after only three years. For the past four years, Colleen has been the principal business originator for Albrecht & Barney. Barney is a member of the Orange County Bar Association, the California Bar Association, and was the youngest certified California Estate Planning and Trust and Probate Law specialist at the time she was awarded the designation. Although Barney is greatly involved in her work and continues to excel in her career, she believes that being involved in her community is essential to enriching the community and the lives of those who inhabit it. Aside from her charitable donations to the American Cancer Society and the University of Michigan, Colleen has worked on the Board of Human Options and even gathered and distributed supplies to the Poli Village School in Tanzania. She also helped fund the Olympic Trampoline Alternate and Olympic Diving Hopefuls in their endeavors to travel and compete in Beijing. Barney is also Parliamentarian on the PTA board at Newport Heights Elementary School, and is currently serving her 4th year on the GATE Parent Advisory Committee for Newport Mesa Unified School District. Despite her busy professional and humanitarian schedule, Colleen continues to remain active in sports, competing in Masters Track. She is also a member of the Southern California Striders, a track and field club of athletes in the pursuit of excellence through camaraderie and competition.
