Camp Chipinaw
Overview
Established
85 years ago in a wooded area of the Catskills near Bethel, New York,
Camp Chipinaw is a coeducational, sleep-away summer camp for ages 7
through 17. Today, Camp Chipinaw remains rooted in its history and
traditions while also continuing to improve its programming and
facilities in order to keep pace with modern life. By offering a mix of
traditional summer camp activities such as boating, team sports, and
horseback riding, and modern pastimes such as in-line skating, spinning,
and digital photography, Camp Chipinaw provides a well-rounded and
engaging summer camp experience.
A
typical day for a Camp Chipinaw camper consists of six periods of
activities interspersed with communal meals in the dining hall, free
time, and special evening activities and social time. Four of a camper’s
activity periods are devoted to team sports, swimming, and aquatic
activities, and two are reserved for electives. Camp Chipinaw prides
itself on offering an exciting and comprehensive array of activities,
including traditional team and individual sports, visual and performing
arts, outdoor adventure challenges, and circus acts. Chipinaw campers
interested in science and nature may choose ecology, rocketry, and
astronomy electives, and those who enjoy being outdoors can choose
climbing and rappelling, zip line, mountain biking and mountain boarding
electives.
Camp
Chipinaw Directors Michael and Shari Baer both have extensive
experience in summer camp operations and were campers in their
childhood. They are dedicated to making Camp Chipinaw a fun and
welcoming place campers want to return to year after year. For more
