Overview
The Fountainhead Montessori schools in Alameda County and Contra Costa
County, California, offer a unique and expansive education for children
in the East Bay ages 2 to 6 years. Specializing in the
Montessori method of education, Fountainhead Montessori desires to
improve a child’s capability to create and understand abstract thought
as well as his or her ability to learn through sensory integration and a
specially designed environment. Children at Fountainhead Montessori
receive an education that is inclusive, non-denominational, and
reality-based from members of a high-quality staff, many of whom have at
least ten years of Montessori experience. With locations in Pleasant
Hill, Orinda, Livermore, Danville, and Dublin, and care available until
6:30 P.M. at some campuses, Fountainhead Montessori provides parents
with the opportunity to receive not only proper care for their child but
also an exceptional education. A key aspect of the curriculum of the
Fountainhead Montessori schools in Pleasant Hill and Livermore are music
and movement classes. The movement classes, supervised by certified
Kids Yoga instructor Mona Sethi, occur every Monday at the Pleasant Hill
campus and every Friday at the Livermore campus. Fountainhead
Montessori’s movement classes teach children basic yoga exercises and
dances from around the world, helping build physical and mental fitness
in a noncompetitive environment. Experienced Kindermusik and Musikgarten
teacher Carmen Trefil oversees the music classes taught every other
Monday at the Livermore campus and every other Wednesday at the Pleasant
Hill campus. Carmen Trefil teaches a variety of music-related skills
that reflect the cornerstones of Fountainhead Montessori, including
expanding vocal range, introducing the reading of sheet music, and
exploring unique instruments from around the world. The Fountainhead
Montessori schools in Pleasant Hill and Livermore also offer a few
extracurricular programs for students to expand their learning
experiences. Every winter, the ZooMobile brings animals from the Oakland
Zoo for children to examine up close and experts who can teach them
about animals. Every spring, the InsectMobile visits from the San
Francisco Insect Discovery Lab to teach students about how insects
affect the ecosystem, and the experts there bring along a few creatures
for students to examine hands-on. After school, Fountainhead Montessori
provides on-campus language immersion classes from Lango at an
additional fee, with Spanish classes at the Livermore campus every
Wednesday afternoon and at the Pleasant Hill campus every Thursday
afternoon.
