Overview
C. Donald Brasher of GTIS (Global Trade Information Services, Inc.) has spent over three decades as a U.S. trade policy and international trade data consultant. C. Donald Brasher has worked for national governments, businesses within the United States, and various associations, including the United States Department of Commerce, the International Business and Economic Research Corporation.
GTIS’ C. Donald Brasher began his work in the international trade sector shortly after completing his education in economics and international law at the University of Delaware in Newark, Delaware, and American University in Washington, D.C. He began his career with a position at the United States Department of Commerce, where he acted as an International Trade Specialist focusing on United States international trade agreements. During his time there, C. Donald Brasher was involved in a major undertaking, which aimed to correlate U.S. trade statistics and foreign government trade data.
After C. Donald Brasher of GTIS left the public sector, he entered a position as a Senior Associate with the Center for International Technological Cooperation and Development. Brasher then accepted a role as Senior Consultant for the International Business and Economic Research Corporation in Washington, D.C. Following a decade of other consulting positions, Brasher moved on to co-found Global Trade Information Services, Inc.
C. Donald Brasher founded GTIS with the goal of creating software that businesses could use to view international trade data in a meaningful way. He soon found his work growing beyond his expectations, with his Global Trade Atlas and World Trade Atlas becoming definitive sources of information for universities, governments, trade reporters, multinational corporations, law firms, major ports, trade associations, and commercial shippers. GTIS now publishes official trade statistics for more than 80 countries and does business in over 250 cities.
