Hebenstreit Communications Company
Overview
Hebenstreit Communications Company or “HebCom” initially was formed in 1992 to provide enhanced information services to the Cellular Communications Industry. This new enterprise followed a more than 20 year career in all aspects of the Broadcasting industry from local radio station operations to television journalism, management and ownership of CBS Television and radio stations through New Mexico Broadcasting Company, founded in 1928 by my Grandfather. Hebensttreit Communications Corporation served another purpose, In the cellular phone industry. The company was formed in 1992. After growing from an initial concept in Albuquerque to operations in seven states serving about 1/4 of the US. HebCom assets were purchased by its’ partner Comcast corporation in 2001. Hebenstreit Communications Company has been recommissioned in 2009 for the purpose of providing specialized programming.
As founder of HebCom I was responsible for the initial start up, designing the corporate structure, hiring the initial employees while directing technology partners. It was the founders responsibility to obtain commitments from wireless communications companies to utilize HebCom’s enhanced information services while developing a pool of investors and various business structures for operations in different states. As the company grew through the entrepreneurial business phase I was responsible for developing a working partner relationship with Comcast Corporation in Philadelphia fostering rapid expansion of the business to over 1,000 employees. As the company outgrew its founder I ultimately negotiated an agreement with Comcast Chairman, Ralph Roberts, which resulted in the Comcast purchase of the company assets.

Told by first station manager; Hebenstreit “too long” Worked in Radio, Television News, Management and Station Ownership, New Mexico Broadcasting company, Owned and operated KGGM TV, Albuquerque and KBIM TV, Roswell.CBS affiliates.(Roswell station was abducted by aliens) Prior ownership included KGGM and KVSF radio stations in Albuquerque and Santa Fe. Other family businesses have included, construction: Hebenstreit and Associates, New Mexico Construction Company, Panel X Corporation. Told by first station manager; Hebenstreit “too long”. “John Andrews was the first New Mexico Broadcaster to win an Emmy Award. In his career he was awarded three as well as the National Broadcast Media Award presented by San Francisco State University and the IRIS award. Owned and Operated CYC Express, a high security, “chain of custody”, pharmaceutical delivery company that handled daily shipments of pharmaceuticals from Phoenix AZ. To almost all hospitals and pharmacies throughout New Mexico, Southeastern Texas and Southern Colorado.. Our largest customers were Fortune 25 companies McKesson and Amerisourse Burgan. Merged CYC With Salt Lake City based American Distribution Centers in 2007 and remained with the new entity through first quarter of 2008. Currently in the final development stage of a company that does specialized programming.
