William Dunbar is the President of the Midwest College of Oriental Medicine, one of the premier acupuncture education institutions in the country. In his role at the Midwest College of Oriental Medicine, William Dunbar provides leadership to the institution’s staff of 50. With a diverse background in Oriental Medicine, William Dunbar holds a Doctorate from the National College of Naprapathic Medicine and is a Licensed Dietitian Nutritionist. In addition, William Dunbar graduated from the renowned Guangzhou University of Traditional Chinese Medicine in China with a Bachelor of Medicine and Doctor of Philosophy. Currently, The Midwest College of Oriental Medicine is an affiliate of Guangzhou University. The Midwest College of Oriental Medicine participates in student and teacher exchanges with China, and other internship programs that promote the advancement of acupuncture in the United States. These internships are one of the ways the Midwest College of Oriental Medicine gives back to the community. In 2008 alone, students at the Midwest College of Oriental Medicine provided over 12,000 acupuncture treatments to patients at no cost. Since its inception in 1979, the Midwest College of Oriental Medicine has shown an ongoing commitment to promoting Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine in the United States. As one of the first institutions to train acupuncturists in the U.S., the Midwest College of Oriental Medicine helped establish the standards in the country as a founding member of the Council of Colleges of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine.
