One of the computer industry’s early innovators, Craig Jensen wrote some of the first software for e-mail communications, musical composition programs, business forecasting systems, and Apple-based games. In 1981, Craig Jensen founded Diskeeper Corporation, producing the world’s most popular defragmentation software.

Initially released in 1986, Diskeeper continues to be a program with great relevance in hard disk drive applications. Written by Craig Jensen and a fellow coder, Diskeeper was an essential fix to the problem of fragmentation. Unique in its approach to the fragmentation of information on hard drives, Diskeeper was the only automated solution to the problem at the time. Now an industry leader, Diskeeper has found acceptance at major government agencies, in Windows-based personal computers, and with over 90 percent of Fortune 500 companies.

A visionary pioneer in computing, Craig Jensen continues to find solutions to the engineering challenges of disk drive and solid state memory systems. Diskeeper Corporation’s latest development in the improved efficiency and reliability of storage components is HyperFast technology for solid state drives (SSDs). Because PC operating systems evolved before the creation of SSD storage systems, the repeated use of SSDs results in a significant deterioration of the hardware’s performance. The solution Jensen developed for SSDs was to preemptively optimize the free space of the drive through the operating system. The efforts of the research and development arm of Diskeeper Corporation have allowed Diskeeper to expand from a defragmentation company into the arena of storage performance.

Craig Jensen studied engineering at Northeastern University in Boston, Massachusetts, before the school had even established a computer science program. A member of the Church of Scientology International, Jensen credits the Church for developing the interpersonal skills that have supported his successes as an entrepreneur, writer, and programmer.
