Silicon Valley Investor78, Atherton, CaliforniaDan Searby has been investing in Silicon valley startups for the past 25 years. Primary areas of interest have been software startups and enabling individuals to start their own small businesses. In 1974, he was hired by a Middle Eastern group to start a venture capital fund- The Middle East Private Investment Corporation. This brought him to Silicon Valley where he has been ever since. He has chaired or been on the board of a number of charities or educational institutions.. Dan spent 11 years in brand management with Procter & Gamble in Cincinnati and in South America. During the 70’s , he worked in Washington , D.C. where he became Director of Finance for the Overseas Private Investment Corporation before moving to the State Department as Deputy Assistant Secretary in charge of international government business programs( including the Commercial Attaches) and intellectual property. During the 1972 Presidential Campaign, he did advance for the White House. He subsequently served a Chairman of the Finance Committee at the 1972 Inaugural. Dan graduated from Dartmouth College and Columbia Graduate School of Business. He was raised in the South where his father was a West Point graduate and career army officer.
