Dana Swalla of Schenectady, New York, currently serves as President and Chief Operating Officer of Moment Consulting, Inc.

Dana Swalla began her career as a Design Engineer and Team Leader for Siemens-Westinghouse Power Generation (now Siemens Power Generation, Inc) in Orlando, Florida, in May 1993. In November 1995, she assumed the same position at Harris Corporation in Melbourne, Florida, where she stayed until 1997. Dana Swalla’s next professional endeavor took her to General Electric Global Research in Niskayuna, New York, where she served as Engineer and Project Leader until 2009. There, Dana Swalla made significant contributions on a variety of important projects. As Technical Program Leader for GEMx Battery Technologies, she helped create and manufacture GEMx sodium batteries. As Principal Investigator and Project Leader of the Hydrogen Electrolyzer program, Dana Swalla led a $1.3 million project funded by the Department of Energy to create an inexpensive, 15-bar alkaline electrolysis module. In addition, she managed the material cost in a feasibility study on concentrated solar power and mechanical analysis of a 100-1000 MW concentrated solar power plant company. Dana Swalla also worked on the market analysis and design of a gearbox for the GE Wind Turbine Program. Presently, Dana Swalla acts as CEO and President of Moment Consulting, Inc., a Schenectady, New York-based engineering consulting firm that specializes in bringing companies up to speed in the sustainable energy market. Dana Swalla and her team provide businesses with sustainable practices and design for products without sacrificing quality or value. Dana Swalla possesses experience working with public and private companies, as well as legislators and government agencies to guide environmental policy and energy use. In addition to running her company, Dana Swalla has served as the Chair of the City of Schenectady Energy Advisory Board since 2007. On the board, she leads a team of caring citizens as well as energy and environmental professionals to determine carbon emissions inventory. Dana Swalla meets with the City Council, the public, and stakeholders from the City’s staff regularly to discuss all facets of municipal operation, including vehicle fleet fuel consumption, building equipment performance, traffic and street light energy use, and city traffic pattern evaluation.
