Danielle Gonzales works on state policy and Latino outreach for Pre-K Now. As Deputy State Program Director, she works with state advocates and policymakers to develop and implement strategies to increase pre-k quality and availability for all 3 and 4 year olds. She also focuses on initiatives to educate policymakers and the public about culturally and linguistically appropriate pre-k practices for Hispanics. Ms. Gonzales has worked at Reading Is Fundamental on reading motivation, literacy in correctional facilities, and family involvement in education. She taught fourth grade in Brownsville, TX; researched the condition of Latinos in the U.S. educational system while at the White House Initiative on Educational Excellence for Hispanic Americans; and worked on several political campaigns. She is a recipient of the Harry S. Truman Scholarship for her work to educate Latino high school students about the college application process and efforts to improve Hispanic education.
