An Experienced EntrepreneurChicago, IllinoisDanny Shabat contributes much to the Jewish community in Chicago and the surrounding areas. Danny Shabat was born in Washington, D.C., and attended the Hebrew Academy of Greater Washington, D.C. At the age of 13, he, his mother, and his three siblings moved to Brooklyn, New York, where he attended Mirrer Yeshiva. Danny Shabat and his wife moved to Chicago two years after their marriage, where he began working at a nursing home. Over time, he purchased the nursing home he worked for as well as two more. Today, Shabat owns The Waterford Nursing Home, Heritage Nursing Home, Inc., and Diplomat Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. In addition to these facilities, Danny Shabat has also owned a number of other businesses, including the Edison, New Jersey-based Micro Innovations Corp., and LifeCare Ambulances, which he recently sold. Danny Shabat’s business ventures are just one part of his life in Chicago. Shabat is a regular contributor to a long list of Jewish charities, including the Yeshivah Migdal Torah, Ohel Shalom Torah Center, and the Hillel Torah North Suburban Day School. He is also a contributor to his childhood school in Washington, D.C. In addition to contributing money, Danny Shabat has also contributed a great deal of time to Jewish organizations. Shabat formerly served as President of the Adas B’nai Israel Synagogue and the Arie Crown Hebrew Day School, and the Wisconsin Institute for Torah Study counts Shabat among their board members. Danny Shabat is an active member of the Adas Yeshurun Synagogue. Today, Danny Shabat lives in Chicago and is the proud grandfather of four grandchildren. In his spare time, Danny Shabat enjoys listening to oldies music and playing golf; Shabat has played The Brute golf course in Lake Geneva, Wisconsin, and The Plantation on the Hawaiian island of Maui.
