With more than three decades of experience, Dr. David Kamelhar serves as a physician at NYU Langone Medical Center and Bellevue Hospital Center. In 1974, Dr. Kamelhar graduated from the New York University (NYU) School of Medicine. He then completed his internship and residency. Dr. David Kamelhar notably served as Chief Resident at the Veterans Administration Hospital in New York from 1977 to 1978.

Subsequently, Dr. David Kamelhar completed a clinical fellowship in pulmonary medicine at NYU Langone Medical Center and Bellevue Hospital Center in 1980. He then received additional certification in pulmonary disease. Since 1980, Dr. Kamelhar has worked at NYU Langone Medical Center and Bellevue Hospital Center. He has maintained certification from the American Board of Internal Medicine since 1977. In addition, he has held certification in his subspecialty of pulmonary medicine with the Board since 1980.

Possessing many accolades, Dr. David Kamelhar received the American Medical Association’s Physician’s Recognition Award. In 1997, he was named one of the Best Doctors in the New York Metro Area in the illustrious New York Magazine and Castle Connolly Medical Ltd. Dr. Kamelhar subsequently received this distinction in eight separate years between 1998 and 2008. Most recently, in 2011, New York Magazine honored him as one of the Best Doctors in the category of pulmonary physicians. He also received other honors. In the 2003 edition of the Guide to Top Doctors, he was voted one of the Top Doctors in America. Dr. Kamelhar was also voted as one of the Best Doctors in America by Castle Connolly Medical Ltd. over the course of a seven-year period, from 2005 to 2012. Additionally, he has been named as a New York Times Super Doctor since 2008.
