Dr. Dean Toriumi, a renowned facial plastic surgeon in Chicago, is a member of several professional organizations. He is a Fellow of the American Academy of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery and the American Academy of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery. He is also a Fellow in the American College of Surgeons and the American Laryngological, Rhinological, and Otological Society.

A specialist in rhinoplasty, Dr. Toriumi also focuses on face-lifts, eyelid lifts, brow lifts, and skin cancer reconstructon. He brings a strong ethic of care for the patient to his technique. The quality of his clinical outcomes has won Dr. Toriumi much acclaim. W Magazine selected him as one of America’s best plastic surgeons in 2000. In 2004, Chicago Magazine named him a Chicago Top Doctor. Dr. Dean Toriumi has twice been chosen a Best Doctor in America, for 2007-2008 and 2009-2010. He is a professor of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery in the Department of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery at the University of Illinois at Chicago.

Two books highlight Dr. Dean Toriumi’s list of professional publications. He is the co-author of Open Structure Rhinoplasty, a detailed look at one of his basic procedures, and Rhinoplasty Dissection Manual, which describes many of his surgeries. Dr. Toriumi has also co-written dozens of journal articles and book chapters. He has presented dozens of papers and sat on many panel discussions. Additionally, he has served on the editorial boards of several journals.

Dr. Toriumi earned his undergraduate degree in Biology and Chemistry at Knox College in Galesburg, Illinois, in an accelerated program. He pursued most of his medical education in Chicago, first at Rush Medical College, then at Metropolitan Group Hospitals of the University of Illinois where he performed his internship in General Surgery. Dr. Toriumi completed his residency in Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery at Northwestern University’s Feinberg School of Medicine, and went on to do fellowship training in Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at Tulane University Hospital and the University of Washington in Seattle. Dr. Dean Toriumi is board certified in Otolaryngology and Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery.
