Teacher of Mathematics @ Pemberton Township Public Schools

Mathematics teacher Deborah Ives came to Pemberton Township High School in 2009. Long-experienced in classroom and administrative roles, Deborah Ives remains one of New Jersey’s most dedicated mathematics educators. Prior to her time at Pemberton Township High School, Deborah Ives held various positions as a supervisor and teacher throughout the state, including in Kinnelon, West Milford, and Ridgewood.

Alongside her pedagogical expertise in mathematics, Deborah Ives has also supervised computer science at the K-12 level. Currently, Deborah Ives teaches Geometry, Algebra II H, and Core Math 10 at Pemberton and also serves on the New Jersey Department of Education High Schools That Work (NJDOE HSTW) Leadership Team. As such, Deborah Ives is presently on the design and implementation team for the new Engineering and Aerospace Academy at PTHS. As a member of the writing team for the NJ DOE Algebra I Draft Standards, Deborah Ives recently presented at the 2009 AMTNJ Annual Conference to teachers from around the state. In addition, Deborah Ives is advising a multimedia educational project with Thirteen/WNET and continues to speak about issues in New Jersey mathematics education through her involvement with the Association of Mathematics Teachers of New Jersey.

A longtime New Jersey resident, Deborah Ives now makes her home in Barnegat Light with her husband. Deborah Ives’s community service includes work with the High Crest Lake Community Association, the High Crest Lake Women’s Club, and the Lakeland Hills YMCA, and she gives generously to New Jersey Cares, St. Joseph’s Parish, the Make-a-Wish Foundation, the Salvation Army, and the American Lung Association.
