North American Van Lines (NAVL), Dimon & Bacorn
December, 2010
With more than 500 agents located across North America, North American Van Lines (NAVL) serves as one of the leading U.S. companies in relocation transportation. Dimon & Bacorn, Inc., a 100-year-old moving and storage firm based in Elmira, New York, possesses affiliation with NAVL.
Over the course of the last 77 years, NAVL has emerged as a trendsetter in the moving industry, becoming the first to outfit its drivers with Worldtrac global systems and the first to utilize shipment tracking systems so that clients know exactly where their belongings are via the web. NAVL was one of the earliest adapters of crane vans, providing for easier and safer handling of large equipment. NAVL was also one of the first to mandate that drivers utilize interactive simulators to train in driving safety before getting behind a NAVL truck wheel. In addition, NAVL was an early user of a quality assurance program to ensure that agents, drivers, and employees fulfilled the highest standards.
NAVL provides its clients with three moving services: household moving, corporate relocation, and international moving.
Household moving options include local and long distance relocation services. With NAVL, the household moving process turns simpler and more efficient. In the process, clients acquire a relocation consultant to prepare for moving day and to handle billing. Once that day finally comes, a NAVL driver and packers prepare a detailed list of items to be moved, professionally protect, and pack away all home furnishings and other items, label all boxes and furniture, and load them into the truck.
NAVL’s employee relocation services helps companies move their most valued assets—their staff—safely and quickly, ensuring little downtime due to relocation.
For clients moving overseas, NAVL’s international services provide customers with a network of employees and representatives working from around the globe, as well as a guide and tips for easing the transition.

Tips for Coaching Youth Sports: How to Earn Player Trust
January, 2011
by Michael Dimon
Given the respect commanded by professional athletes and their coaches, children tend to revere their own coaches, looking to them for guidance and advice. These tips will help you earn your players’ trust, ensuring a fun and productive season playing any sport. 1. Look Players in Their Eyes Early on, children learn the significance of eye contact during conversation. Looking your players in their eyes conveys to them a sense of authority as well as equality: you are showing them the same respect you would show an adult.
2. Listen to Your Players Regardless of the age of your players, they are as interested in being listened to by their coach as they are in listening to the coach’s instructions. Make yourself available to your team and listen carefully to their suggestions and concerns. By demonstrating your willingness to listen you become a friend, confidant, and a teammate.
3. Communicate Clearly Depending on your players’ age range and their familiarity with their chosen sport, they may or may not be familiar with sports jargon and instructions. Make an effort to communicate clearly: explain drills, terms, plays, and strategies so that all your players understand their execution and importance.
4. Know Your Role Above all else, a youth coach should teach his or her players fundamentals for the sport they are playing. Help your players become better players as well as learn lessons that carry over from sports into life in general.
5. Make Sure Everyone Has Fun As a youth coach, your goal is not to fill a trophy case; it is to make sure kids are learning and more than anything else, having a good time. Foster the joy of athletics so your young players are encouraged to pursue sports as they grow older.
