Dr. Dominick Ricci successfully managed a $5 million advertising budgetNew York, New YorkFollowing several years as a clinical investigator and private practitioner of gastroenterology, Dr. Dominick Ricci transitioned to working in the pharmaceutical industry. Over the past 17 years, Dr. Ricci has been responsible for the marketing integration and rapid market uptake of medications that treat conditions as various as asthma, psoriasis, hepatitis, and Crohn’s disease. After two years as an independent pharmaceutical consultant from 1998 to 1999, Dr. Dominick Ricci joined Lowe-McAdams Healthcare as Vice President and Medical Director. He devised a cost-benefit and compliance program that led to reimbursement approval for a cholesterol drug by Medicaid in all 50 states, the national VA system, 80% of the largest HMO’s, and 90% of the largest Pharmacy Benefits Managers. Using his expertise in medical market analysis, Dr. Ricci helped launch the first drug used for irritable bowel syndrome, resulting in over 450,000 prescriptions written for patients in the first 8 months of availability. From 2006 to 2009 Dr. Dominick Ricci served in the dual roles of Senior Specialist of Professional Education and Medical Manager of Global Medical Affairs at Shire Pharmaceuticals, a 5000-employee international biotech company. At Shire, Dr. Ricci’s responsibilities included developing relationships with nurse practitioners and physicians assistants, developing compensation programs for advocacy physicians, training physician speakers, and working on compliance issues. Dr. Ricci was responsible for product awareness among physicians and market leaders, as well as rapid formulary adoption of Shire’s medications by significant healthcare providers. Dr. Dominick Ricci is a recognized public speaker and researcher, and has been published in medical journals, textbooks, and industry magazines. Dr. Ricci has presented the lectures’ Succeeding with Managed Care: A Primer and Success with Managed Care: Principles I at the American College of Managed Care Medicine.
