A Brief Overview of the Florida Hospital Association, Don Steigman's Blog on Bigsight
February, 2011
In the course of my career as a business leader in the health care industry, I have held affiliation with several organizations, including the Florida Hospital Association. In my capacity as a past chairman of the Florida Hospital Association, I was involved with the merger of three of the state’s hospital associations and consolidated them into one group, the FHA.
Possessing a high level of involvement with federal and state judiciary agencies, the FHA remains one of Florida’s most influential health care policy associations. The organization’s overall mission remains to “advocate proactively on behalf of hospitals at the state and federal levels on issues that will assist members in their mission of community service and care to patients.” This association, based in Tallahassee, Florida, understands the ever-shifting role of community health practitioners and works to deliver quality health care to all Floridians. The FHA also maintains a regional office in Orlando, Florida.
The Florida Hospital Association comprised of 184 hospitals and health systems, more than 1,500 members, and 17 professional management groups, aims to supports members in their goal of provide high-quality health care to communities around the state. Some of the roles of this progressive association include publishing and authoring newsletters and reports on industry research, preparing educational seminars, advocating for Florida’s hospitals in legal situations, and lobbying for the advancement of the health care profession in Florida’s capital, Tallahassee.
While working with the Florida Hospital Association, I helped the organization to provide quality health care to many communities in the state of Florida. I remain invested in Florida’s community health care industry and continue to function in the management field.
