Billings, MT resident Donald Cyphers started the Montana News Agency in order to rectify what he perceived as a lack of balanced reporting on local issues. Consequently, Donald Cyphers’s Montana News Agency now covers the news from a conservative Christian perspective. Also the owner of a collection agency, Donald Cyphers founded the Montana News Agency in 2001, initially publishing a print edition bi-monthly. As the Montana News Agency’s reputation grew, Donald Cyphers expanded the news agency to weekly coverage and then daily coverage. Donald Cyphers made the move to an online-only publication shortly thereafter. Dedicated to investigative reporting of local issues, the Montana News Agency has covered several important law enforcement stories. One of these was a three-part investigative series on gangs in the Billings area. This series of articles described the major gangs that were active in the area and what was being done to stop them. Additionally, Donald Cyphers faced former Billings mayor Ron Tussing on allegations that eventually led to the mayor’s resignation. Outside of his activities with the Montana News Agency, editor-in-chief Donald Cyphers has also been active in the America Civil Liberties Union and the Liberty Council. Both of these organizations fight for the First Amendment rights of Americans using a variety of strategies ranging from education to litigation. When not engaged in journalistic or civil liberties work, Donald Cyphers pursues his twin hobbies of amateur flying and sports. As a former Wyoming Civil Air Patrol Cadet, Donald Cyphers is working to obtain a helicopter pilot’s license. Donald Cyphers also advocates swimming, biking, running, and other outdoor activities. In addition, Donald Cyphers is an animal lover and a proponent of life-long education.
