I’m Douglas F. Welpton, board certified psychiatrist and psychoanalyst and creator of AdviceInLoveRelationship.com. For more than forty years I have successfully helped countless couples and individuals overcome relationship problems through both marriage counseling and professional workshops.

After graduating from Stanford University, Harvard Medical School and the Boston Psychoanalytic Society and Institute, my professional career first began at the National Institute of Mental Health in Bethesda, MD with a two-year Clinical Fellowship. Since then, I have held numerous positions to help me develop an expertise in family and relationship advice, including a position as Associate Clinical Professor of Psychiatry at Tufts University School of Medicine. In 1968, I opened a private practice to further help couples achieve healthy relationships through relationship counseling.

Through the development of AdviceInLoveRelationship.com, couples and individuals seeking ways of increasing intimacy can find the relationship advice and tips they need to successfully nurture and maintain strong connections with their partners. I have found that through open communication and marriage forgiveness, couples can overcome even the most challenging relationship obstacles, including financial infidelity and hardships that come along with a spender-saver marriage. Additionally, through AdviceInLoveRelationship.com, couples can learn how to effectively change their relationship mindsets, detach themselves from their inner critics and to transform their relationships beyond the usual marriage ‘blame game.’

In addition to AdviceInLoveRelationship.com, I have published numerous e-books to help couples grow stronger to achieve deeper personal connections and relationship self-acceptance. With my e-books, couples have learned how to safely and effectively hold constructive conversations about finances rather than simply fighting about money, which often leads to resentment and unhappiness.

Through my private practice, website and e-books, many couples have rediscovered how to be loved and how to nurture love once again. Most importantly, though, couples and individuals have learned the significance of feeling worthy and deserving of a healthy relationship in all aspects of their lives.
